Chapter Management Showcase
The chapter management competition will showcase chapters engaging the public/field. There are three categories: Professional Development, Outreach, and Demo. The top three chapters for each category will be selected to give a short presentation at IONS® Orlando. The audience will vote for the best in each category. The winners for the professional development and outreach category will win a $100 cash prize and the winner for the demo category will win a $150 cash prize. Submissions are completed during the registration process.
If your chapter is planning on hosting an event/series later in the school year, you can submit a preliminary essay about what you hope to do and update it when the event is finished.
The professional development category is about developing student soft-skills or connecting industry/field professionals with students via an event or series. To enter the professional development category, upload pictures of the event/series and an essay (minimum of 250 words) describing the event/series, why your chapter decided to create the event/series, how it was organized, and the impact it had on participants.
Outreach involves the chapter interacting with their community in a meaningful way. To enter the outreach category, upload a picture of the event/series and an essay (minimum of 250 words) describing the event/series, why your chapter decided to create the event/series, how it was organized, and the impact it had on participants.
For the demo category, a presentation or video on an optics demonstration along with a layman’s explanation of the theory will be presented.
To enter, upload a 5 minute (or shorter) video showing operation of the demo and a layman’s explanation of the theory and observations.
